Default New carpet and front seat question

Could someone post a picture of the carpet around the mounts on their front seats?

I'm putting carpet into my '62 convertible. I'm about ready to cut holes for the studs that hold the front seats down, but I'm not how it should look. Should holes be minimal size, and the seats bolted on top of the carpet? Or should the holes be slightly larger, with the seats bolted to the floor, and the carpet lying over it, hiding all the messy details?

My car came without carpet, so I've never see what it's supposed to look like. Any help is appreciated.
