Default starting to plan my engine build

I am starting to plan ahead for my engine build just to make sure all calculations and part selections are correct. I am not in a buying mode yet but just starting to throw some ideas around and any info or advice would be great.

First I should say this will be a street car running on high oct gas and I want to put down around 500 ponies and 550+ lbs of torque. That is the benchmark so...

What combination would I need if I went with a 400 motor as opposed to a 455?? I am planning on going with aluminum heads either KR or Edel for performance and also forged internals except the crank.

Any thoughts? As always thanks guys
