Default Frame Repair Or Replace question

I am looking at my 67 Pontiac convertible GTO frame and it is repairable with a lot of work but the work will be cheaper than buying a replacement frame.
If I have the bad sections of my frame cut out and new steel welded in, is that safe?
On the outside rail under the door is 1/8 inch thick enough?
If I decide to buy a solid frame from another 67 that just needs blasting and paint, is there a going rate for one so I know what to pay? (without shipping)
I hear of all different prices put there is a shipping price involved.
If I find it local what should I look at (price wise)?

Thanks
Jack

PS: I have asked similar question in past but my mom has taken real ill and all my work stopped with body 2 bolts from coming off frame.
So I now have bills that I didn't before and my head is UMA and can't think clearly, with a GTO stripped down.
