Default Vehicle GPS Opinions

For quite a while now I've resisted the temptation to buy one of these. I drive 25-30,000 miles a year and have always depended on printing out Google directions if I was headed somewhere I wasn't sure of. Lets say that happens 3-4 times a year. My kids run Garmin units in their cars and they find them quite handy.....my guess is that they now depend on them a bit much. That's another thread though.

I'd find one useful when searching for something specific....hotel in downtown Chicago or a decent place to eat at the next exit, maybe even the speed limit....that kind of thing.

Woot http://www.woot.com/ has one today that seems like a good deal but reading the reviews makes me wonder. And who do you believe? People that are happy are less likely to go to the trouble of posting a positive review than people that are pissed off, so I question even the reviews.

So who makes a good one?
