Fried starter?

Ok, so I go to start my 66 for the first time. Won't start with what I thought should be a fully charged battery so I try to jump it with my son's car.
Upon connecting the jumper cables, the engine starts to slowly turn and the jumper wires got really hot. GTO key was off.
Is my starter fried?
