Default Goateus Maximus at Norwalk

It was our first time here and we had a great time. Since we broke on Sat. I finally got a chance to walk around Sunday morning and soak it all in. I wanted to check out some of my favorite cars that I've been seeing drive into the staging lanes. It was nice to meet Dil and check out his blown GTO, that thing sits so good. Met the famous Lil Jack and his Dad, beautiful '65 that runs amazing. Next was the Sik Goat, I really should learn how to keep something that clean someday. Wanted to meet Jeff Kinsler and check out his car but I couldn't find him. I did get to see it run on Friday however and it just amazes me how well it runs on that little tire. Mike Leeches car sits perfect and I love the subtle paint.
It truly is Pontiac heaven, I couldn't really pick a favorite if I had to. I sure loved the '62s that were there and the Tempests.
As far as us, it didn't really go as planned. I got to experience my first tire shake on Friday and we actually did a fair amount of damage to the car. Broke a body mount, bent two more and broke two out of the three battery mounts. Along with loosening about every bolt on the car. We spent the rest of Friday repairing it.
Our only pass on Saturday was better, about a 100ft out I thought I felt it hiking up (in hindsight I wonder if I was just being gunshy)so I pedaled it quickly and ran it out the back. We got it back to the pits and started our routine and found a couple straps burned off on the plugs. That led to a leak down test where we found 4 cylinders leaking. We pulled the heads off and 7 valves were leaking and we found some cracks under the bowls.
So that was that, we really wanted to give everyone there something to remember but I guess we're just gonna have to work on it a little harder.
It was really great to be able to pit with Rodney and Travis. Thank you Rodney for allowing that. Thanks also to Bob and Frank at All Pontiac for kind of taking us under their wing and setting that up.
I also can't say enough about the track itself. Well run and friendly staff, O yea and the ice cream, yummy.
Can't wait to do it again, take care everyone and thanks for making it great.

Steve
