Hey, I have a 69 tempest with a 6.6 and I was wondering if I could get your information about the air cleaner and the snorkel.

First, why do they have the snorkel on it instead of the more common open setup? Can I switch to that, or just stick with the snorkel? I like the other look better and I would guess (in my less than professional opinion) that the open cleaner would get more air going in there.

Also, I am doing an Amsoil order and I was looking at getting an Amsoil air cleaner. Anyway, there are two that are 13.875 inches wide, but one is 3.04 inches tall and the other is 4.056 inches tall. Will the taller one work, or is that too tall of a filter to fit?
