SR engines and the reasons

can anyone go into explanation of how GMs SR engine program worked..I am confirmed on a 1973 SR engine in a Nov. 71 built T/A...any known H.O. problems?..I know the only way to learn the real problem would be to speak to the owner but does anyone have any SR H.O. stories?...any common or known assembly problems or more like ,who knows?...what happened to the removed engines?...anyone with any information I would really enjoy learning more...always,thankyou
