Hey Glenn, I see you've got a resistor on your kick-down switch. I have one too on mine. Other kick-down switches I've seen don't have them. I've noticed that the ones without the resistor open the shaker immediately when engaged, while those with the resistor have something like a warm-up period. Have you or any of the other guys noticed that? Is there a specific reason they were designed this way? I'm thinking the non-resistor type may have been phased in later after the shakers went the way of the dodo.

....I am not sure..good ?...hopefully some one comments...I do have a N.O.S. replacement without the resistor...if I ever get this dodo to fly I can try a swap and see what happens..funny how you have to beat on your car to get the flap to open...1972 was such an improvement over the earlier design...I know there was an early GM memo regarding the shakers and I spoke with an original owner whos 71 needed to go to the dealer under warranty for a non functioning shaker..I put a functioning shaker on my 76 with new GM parts but I never knew how to properly hook it up (that's when I bought that kick down switch)..parts guy did not tell me about all the other parts...any way mine was hard wired with a toggle switch and I put a counter weight set up so it would stay open...of course I had to manually pull it closed...(I know,another of my brilliant ideas)...any way some one stole my entire shaker and dual snorkel at the mall...I ordered another shaker but no air cleaner in 1983...was running the 76 original when car was demolished..thats why I still have that SR that's getting painted Lucerne blue..I can not wait to show it off and my custom touch!!!!
