The quartz conversions do not have the constant flow movement of the hands like the original points-style do. They "tick" off one second at a time instead of sweeping along smoothly.

The vast majority of the original clocks do not need anything more than a filing of the points and some minor cleaning of the mechanism with WD-40.

Steve.. I may be wrong and currently don't have time to verify..but I believe that was the exact point in Rockey's HPP article, that the quartz has a smooth movement and doesn't tick second to second. Plus the quartz pulls like 10 mill amps vs the originals pulling 2-3 amps when the car is turned off. to each their own, but there is a reason this is a pretty popular conversion. Much more reliable and efficient in the long run.. but I think you have the smooth vs tick movement backwards..
