mirror glass replacement question

I would like to change the mirror glass in the driver and passenger bullets style.I have some OER brand glass but doesnt seem to fit right .Do you brake old glass an apply new one or do you stick it on top ? Even if i would try to fit it inside it looks too big.What do you guys do?
