Default High School GTO

I have been cruising the forum for a few months now and rarely post but I know how most of you enjoy a good car story and like seeing pics of our projects so I thought I would post a few pics and give you guys some history behind the car.
When I was in HS ( a couple of years ago, ok a couple of dozen years ago and then some) I picked up a 69 GTO for $500 from the original owner, $500 sounds cheap but it was 1980! Long story short when I went in the service I sold it to a guy who sold it to a guy who traded it for a Firebird. The last guy that had it traded for it just to strip it and rebuild a 68 GTO convertible he rolled, by now it was 1985. The car ended up in a shed behind his parents house stripped to the bone. There it sat until about a year ago when I did some searching around and found it by a fluke.......Missouri DMV gave me the last registered owners name by mistake and I chased it down through each guy that owned the car. When I first found it I was disheartened and figured it was not worth saving but when the owner offered to just give me the car, I thought long and hard and decided it was a 242 car and I had history with it and I was going to save it. I flew back out to California drove back home purchased a trailer threw the car on the trailer and am knee deep in a rebuild.
At the moment I am trying to finish up the chassis and the body is at my local restoration shop getting blasted, sheet metal replaced and painted. The paint and body will be the only work I farmed out the rest will be completed in my garage by yours truly.
