Default Wagon Tailgate power window question

Guys, this may be a question better answered in the Big car section, but I will try here first. I have a 67 Tempest wagon with the rear power window. I have noticed that when I slide the button to open or close the window the power stays "on" after I let off of the switch. (similar to the auto up and down features of modern cars) I know this is not suppose to be this way, and sometimes continues to draw power. My headlights will pulsate due to this and slightly drain my battery. I end up flipping the switch the opposite direction to get it to stop. I am not much of an electrical person, but is there a relay that is going bad that would cause this? I do not believe it is my switch. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.
