Default Old fly fishing rod advice needed/info

I found up in the attic an old f.e. Thomas 9 foot 3 piece bamboo fly rod and reel. it is in great shape, it has nickel silver ferrules and a reel mount. Stamped with a number "3" on the butt and F.E. Thomas Special bangor me" on the handle. Anyone know how old it would be or its worth. I like the idea of using it since my grandpa probably used it as well as my dad. The rod looks solid no splits and the wraps are all in good shape. Do you think this is a "user" or a wall hanger? Thanks for any advice or opinions. I did try it out in the backyard, wow! what a totally different feel than the graphite and composite rods I use now.
