It seems that if the vacuum is on the rights side, clocked 180'degrees different, it comes into interference with the heater hose and nipple on the right head. Bob a quick visual of our Van Nuys built '78 W72 our distributor orientation is same as you have it installed and shown above...tach connection on passenger side w vac adv on drivers side. FWIW factory A/C car.
