door removal 66 lemans

Hi to All,
Is it easier to remove/replace the door with the hinges on or off.
The reason is, I started to remove the bolts and suspected there might be a plate or cage, inside the body that might fall out, once the bolts are removed.
Removing the Philips head side seems more difficult.
