I had to use my extra engine this year because I had some problems with the 462 in the car last year. I blew both head gaskets last year & then after replacing them The car ran good for about 15 miles & then smoked so bad I couldn't get it to stop. I thought I had filled the exhaust with coolant & oil, so I replaced the mufflers & cleaned the pipes out. But no better. I have no idea why that happened so I finally get to take it back to the machine shop so they can figure out what is wrong with the block or if anything is or if it just washed the rings out so bad & maybe stuck them in the ring lands causing all the smoke ?? I don't know as the block looks good & everything that I can see look to be in good shape. I made a deal with the shop to be able for them to look it over & let me pay a little bit at a time for what ever they seem to find & repair If anything needs it. There a little slow this month so their going to help me out which helps them out to. Hopefully in a week or so I'll know what happened to the engine & what I'll need to be able to get it back in. This is the engine that I had in when I went 11:72 @ 116 mph. It ran good & pull like a freight train. Right now all I have in the car is a 400 + .60 over, same heads E-heads RAIV cam, Eldo performer RPM intake, roller tip rockers, RA IV exhaust manifolds, double roller chain & gears, TRW forged flat top, Pertronix ign. topped with a Q-jet(800cfm) with 3:73 rear gears & an M-22 rock crusher. It runs good but not like the 462 did. We'll see what happens before Christmas now ???? All good I hope. !!!!
