I have finally come to the conclusion that I am not going to get around to building this car anytime soon. It is stored outside, and it makes me sad to see it sitting there, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, with no progress.

I want somebody to buy it who is going to do something with it.

66 GTO, originally barrier blue with black interior, 4 speed car. Original engine and transmission were long gone when I bought it. It was running with a 455 and a later year Muncie M-21.

I pulled the engine and transmission. Some scumbag thief stole the crankshaft and 96 heads from the shop where I was working on them . . . probably some tweaker who sold them for scrap value to buy some meth. I hate thieves. I will be selling the 455 block and Muncie separately.

So the car is no engine, no transmission.

The 3.55 posi is still installed, but burnouts on the street showed that the aging posi does not always work (most of the time it did, but sometimes only one black stripe).

I will post pics, but they are a little misleading. The paint job looks ok in the pics, but it is not. The paint is going to need to come off. It is a terrible job done by the prior owner. I have no idea what is hiding under that paint. I ground a couple of areas that look solid underneath, but I am no paint and body man. I did take out the windshield, and it has the normal rust under the windshield that all of these 66 GTOs have. I did not take out the rear glass, but from inside the trunk it is easy to see that there is rust right under the back window as well. The floorpans have a couple of small holes. up near the firewall. I have new floorpans that will go with the car.

I took out the dash and gauges with good intentions to send them off to be restored. While I never did send them off, I have everything from the dash and gauges, complete, to go with the car.

All of the ancillary things that came out of the car when I pulled the engine will go with the car, e.g., radiator, fan, 4 speed linkage, etc.

Car is currently sitting on Rally IIs with dry rotted G70-14 Powercats, one of which has deflated and come apart as a flat sitting there.

I do not know for sure but believe the brake drums are probably frozen at this point. The car has been sitting still for a few years, and this is what has happened every time I leave an old car stationary, so I suspect it is the same with this one.
