Default 1961 Disc brake conversion

I am now in the stage of fitting the master cylinder and booster combo. I bought an 8" booster because it was the same size as the original. I have to use GM brackets to the firewall, the pushrod sticks out a lot farther than the original. Now the new booster will not clear the inner fender well. I am debating hammering it in about 1/4" in the one spot it touches but I am wondering if there are other options to this. It barely hits but it still interferes enough to push the booster enough so that it will not mount. Thanks.
