Default A/C condenser install - any advice?

Posted this in heating and cooling tech with zero responses so thought I would try over here....'m stumped on this one. I read in the shop manual that to remove the condenser you drop it out through the bottom after removing the lower valance. I remove the valance, hood latch support, etc. to open up the area below the front of the car. I could not get the condenser out that way. Ended up removing the radiator and took it out through the engine compartment but was only able to do so after bending the crap out of the condenser bracket on the driver side. Once it was out, I discovered that the distance between the front frame horns was smaller than the measurement across the width of the condenser and brackets. Took the driver side bracket loose and adjusted it in by two holes (already there). Now the with over the brackets is about 1/8" smaller than the frame horn space. I'm thinking I've got it figured out, but obviously I was wrong otherwise I wouldn't be typing this long opening message. What's the secret to getting this sucker back into the car?
