My understanding is that the "Acadian" brand cars were distinctly unique;
Acadian was the "brand", all Acadiains were sold exclusively in Pontiac franchised dealers. The actual full name is: 'Acadian Beaumont' or 'Acadian II' - just like 'Pontiac GTO' or 'Pontiac Firebird'. It is noteworthy that no Pontiac crests were on Acadian cars - but hte Acadian logo was quite similar to a Pontiac logo.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acadian_(automobile)
