Hello All,
I´ve been following the forum for quite sometime but joined just recently. My motor was in dyno after cam swap (new HFT cam) and I thought results might be in interest here in street section. So: 1968 400 +.030 , L-2262F pistons. Done 15yrs and 25K miles ago. 3.750 stroke, factory Nodular crank, 4-bolt mains, factory 6.625 rods, ARP studs and bolts. Factory intake, no porting. 670 cfm carb, vacuum secondaries, 71 and 74 jets, 1" 4-hole adapter, long tube headers. Pontiac HEI, tuned up. 15° initial, 33° total. Factory 72CC D-port heads, 2.11 and 1.77 valves, intake seat angle 30°, exhaust 45°, factory 1.5 rockers, no porting. Now heads were checked for straightness, leaks etc. and chambers measured, bottleneck studs changed to ARP 7/16 studs + locks. Actual CC is 74,5. Hardened seats were installed to exhaust. HyLift Johnson lifters with Smith Bros 5/16 one piece pushrods, .083 wall. After consulting a member of this forum I chose Voodoo 703 for new cam. New springs were set for 130lbs on the seat, 310lbs open as recommended. Installed height 1.79". CR 9.65 In the dyno this combo made 377hp @ 5300 , 447 lb.Ft. @ 3800 Torque was over 400lb.Ft from start of the measuring point 2500 up to 5000. Motor is meant to be reliable and fun street engine in a 68Bird, manual transmission, 3.90 gears.
