There is no way running diesel oil would ruin engine bearings. Fact is, most high end engine builders use a diesel oil, like Rotella, for break-in oil.

The engine builders around here won't touch it. You tell them that and they laugh you right out the door. I'll tell one of the best [now retired] engine builders here and he'd throw me out the door or die laughing.
