The auto trans W-30 455 and the little brother W-31 350 used the smaller 308* camshaft - and Crane sold a "Fireball" cam that was a very close replacement. The W-30 stick cars got the 328* version, and no power brakes.
In the W-31 350, with its 4.057 x 3.385 bore and stroke, the shift points were as high as you dared to run it. and it got a very specific harmonic balancer that's Big Money today. They're rev happy little monsters without a lot of effort. One of the members of an Olds forum I used to be on - was a GM assembly plant manager during the musclecar years.... told us that the advertised HP of many of the musclecars was the curb weight divided by 10. So it weighs 3700#? 370hp! And the engine did that number but it wasn't anywhere near the peak output in many cases. Yes, theyre all 100hp engines... somewhere on the curve.
