R-12 and R-134a equipment has differences. If the guy removes the R-12 that you have in there now he is also removing the air and moisture that is also in there and storing it in his tank. Depending on how good his system is he may be able to filter out the moisture but NOT the air. Also some amount of oil will be vacuumed out also going into his tank. There will be oil from R-134a systems in there also and the 2 are not compatible. If I were he I would not want my equipment cross contaminated. And, I would not want to take the chance my AC system would be contaminated.
