Two kinds of cars were prepared at Royal Pontiac, those that were Royal Bobcats and those that were " Bobcated". The first are the Royal Bobcat press cars. These were cars that Jim Wangers special ordered from Pontiac that were given the full treatment and used in magazine articles and street raced to promote the dealership. Some of these cars recieved different engines such as 421's, 428's and Ram Air V's. At times they were given special paint schemes along with Bobcat decals. The second kind is the cars that were purchased new at Royal or another dealership that customers payed to have the Bobcat kit installed by Milt Schornack and crew at Royal. The kit included thinner head gaskets, carb jets, distributor springs etc. The kits were usually installed on the original engine for the car. The kits were also available mail order and anyone could install the kit themselves . The only way to prove if a car is a real Royal Bobcat or one that was "Bobcated" at the dealership is to have paperwork from Royal showing what was done to the car.
