Default 1965 GTO 4 speed with Doug's headers z-bar issue

Hi, NEED HELP!!!!!!

Putting the 4 speed back in my 65 GTO and have Doug's round port headers installed. Doug's states that the headers will work with 4 speed floor shift and should use the factory z-bar.

I have the factory z-bar but the lower lever of the z-bar will not clear the last header tube. I am on the ball stud as far as I can go but the lever is hitting the last tube by about 1/4" so the z-bar will not rotate.

What is wrong and what can I do to fix?

Thanks for your help,

Mark
