Long-time lurker (since the late 90's or early 2000's), but recently just joined. I purchased my 1966 GTO back in 1991, while still in college - with the plans of restoring it with my dad. Unfortunately he passed away about 1-1/2 years later, before we had been able to do much work on it. Since I was still in college, and it was located at my parent's lake house (about 2 hours away), I didn't have much time to work on it, so it stayed in the garage - collecting dust. After graduating college, I met my wife and moved to Long Island, NY, started a family and never had the time, space or money to move the car out here to work on. I guess you could consider me one of those that say "I am going to restore it someday".....as several people that have seen the car over the years, have expressed interest in it, but I never wanted to sell (fortunately it was stored in a garage, so it was somewhat protected from the elements, and not too many people knew it was in there). I also certainly never intended to stay in NY this long.....so I also didn't want to move it, and then have to move it again. Well, recently my mom decided to sell her house, so the car had to go, so I rented a u-haul truck and trailer and moved it out to NY. Not a fun trip - but at least it is finally where I am, so I can start to work on it. I'm sure I will be asking some questions now...as I am hopefully going to have the time to spend some time working on it. It is a true 242 car, barrier blue (w/ blue interior), that originally came with 4-bbl, 4-speed and a 3:55 rear end (and not too many options). It no longer has the original engine (when I bought it, it had a 73 400 2bbl that didn't run). I put a 66 389 out of a junkyard Catalina in it....but never tried to see if it will run. I have the PHS that I got back in the 1990's (either 1991 or 1992), and will try to post it shortly. I have a lot of work ahead of me, and I am sure I will be asking a lot of questions.
