When i was a kid we had a spray bar hooked to a truck we used to spray our gravel roads with diesel, worked great to stop dust/weeds whatever

My hometown used to spray the dirt alleys to keep the dust under control.

I suspect that was how they got rid of all the waste oil from the various city fleet vehicles, mixed with enough diesel to do the entire city.

They haven't done that for decades.
