I've looked at that 68 Tempest from above and I really like that car as a project. That body is solid and the front end of a Tempest is the same as a GTO with a chrome nose. All you have to do is paint it whatever color you want, keep the bench seat (or put in some buckets) and change the interior color to whatever you want. I'd paint it white with a red interior and it wouldn't have any GTO badges on it. If it drove by you'd think it was a GTO, but it's not, so why pretend to be a GTO, if it looks just like a GTO? Put in whatever engine you wanted, including a Chevy crate engine (I can hear the boos). Like it or not there are different paths you can take, but if you end up with a cool car that runs well on a budget, a car like this on really makes it easy. Doesn't look like hardly any real rust damage or body panel damage.

68 GTO's with chrome noses


Article about the chrome 68 GTO chrome bumper option says there were 2108 made of a total 87,684 sold (2.5%).
