although I don't think it has been mentioned in this thread, I believe that extended 1969 model year cars were being built - at least they were for the Firebird;
I believe the change over happened in January. I re-read this thread, and had guessed that if nothing else looked out of place, odds are it was a stamping error. I would wager that no one who was restamping a block would stamp a 1970 model year engine as a "9", and no one stamping an engine for a 1969 vehicle would use a 1970 casting.
