My '79 was originally equipped with the UP6 and U83 Tri-band CB combo, which includes the power antenna on the fender, and it still works but it's missing some parts.
My power antenna unit can just be turned by hand if you reach in and twist it, which I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to, as it is supposed to be secured in place by bracketry. I found the part numbers for the brackets in the service manual and obviously can't find them anywhere. Also, after scouring the 1979 service manual supplement, I also see that there is a "clip" that secures the power and radio wires coming from the antenna to the fender liner, and a "strap" that bundles those wires together coming from firewall grommet so that they are secured and not just hanging loose. Right now I just have the wires bundled together with a zip tie, because before they were just hanging loose and hitting the fender liner. It was annoying while I was driving the car because you could hear the tapping, but I would obviously like the original mounts/clips/and brackets to be put back on the car as when it was new. Does anybody else have this option on their T/A, and could you maybe take some photos of how your antenna is secured as well as how the wiring is routed and what these "clips" and "straps" look like, assuming it's all original? I'm not counting on any luck with this, but I'd appreciate it!
