I hate to admit it but at 54, I'm not as quick as I once was.
![]() I've always been a No Box/Footbrake racer but I just can't footbrake lights like I once did. I raced Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week and the absolute best light I could muster was a .061 and most of my lights were in the .2+ range. I tried deep staging but my car launches too hard with a 1.58 60' and I keep red lighting. With that said, I was really thinking about installing a 2-step with a line lock. I have an excellent TCI drag race TH350 now but I'm reluctant to put a transbrake in it and I really don't have the funds to buy a new TH400 and a new/resized driveshaft and safety loop. My car still has the factory drum brakes so I was thinking of upgrading to rear disc brakes and installing one of my Mallory HyFire ignition boxes (#695) with a 2-step and a rear brake line lock, both hooked to a button on the shifter. Thoughts?
