Thought I would update this thread. I bought the car.
It will make a nice "twin" to my RA II car in the same colors (vinyl top). Some of the pictures in the ad are from 2010 when the car was fresh. It needs a complete refresh now. However it does have it's born with drivetrain including the correct carb/distributor/ZL axle, etc. VIN matches on engine and trans. I met the original owner and have all the original dealer paperwork as well as the PHS information. The car was taken off the road in 1978, then sold to the original owners niece around 2006. She and her husband did a "restoration" on the car (very nice couple). Car had about 51k on it (verified as actual mileage on title) and now has about 54k on it. Engine was rebuilt and new clutch installed.
I will address all the non operating items, refresh the engine compartment and chassis, then have the car painted again. It has had one repaint since the factory original.
There were only (92) 1968 GTO RA convertible 4 speeds built. This includes the RA and RAII engines. Interesting note about the dealer installed hood tach. It was a 1967 style. The car was built first week of November so dealer probably just pulled a tach out of his inventory. All the options are still present on the car. I am excited to get started on this car but it will be a project for sure.
Here are a few pics when the car was brought to Florida and a picture of my documented RAII car.
