The Ultium platform is using pouch cells which is an old school type of battery ( the first type of cell when the leaf and volt were a thing.

GM will continue to use Ultium for the ongoing production cars but has pulled all of its investment out of thr Ultium pouch cell plants (over a billion) and re invested with LG chem prismatic type cell development, which is what Stellantis is using for their Charger and Wagoneer S. Tesla is using cylindrical cells , ( looks like AA battery ), wich is what you find in a vaping accessory or in the usual chinese made trinket sold off Amazon. Making the battery hard to refurbish since Tesla have between 4000+ to 7000+ of those little lithium cells that can go bad and need to be diagnosed prior refurbishing.

Prismatic has about 34 cells in the battery ( rectangular , think of a energy brick or oldschool lunch box ) that can also be stacked for more power per volume. Making battery diagnostic and refurbishing a breeze. Its also safer and better insulated ( thermal management).


As for Honda vs Nissan. I have beem a supplier to both corporations for many years now ; Nissan / infiniti always been a problematic relationship, weird management, cliquey departments in which most of the employees are younger and cooler than anyone else ( so they think) and absolutely clueless about how the car industry functions... basically a bunch of marketing school grads with zero experience... they were my client already when they bought majority stakes in JATCO which makes the CVTs . Thats when their CVT evangelism started..

Bottom line any car of any brand can last 500k miles and 40 years, just have rust proof it, fix what breaks ( sometimes repeatedly), by the book preventive msintenance and not drive like a madman. Heck,some Pintos are still driving around...

Cars stop running because of neglect.

That said id take a Honda over a Nissan anyday of the week...

Probably a Honda motorcycle... lol
