I am rebuilding the brake drums on my 68 GTO and when stripping them down the self adjusting setup has been removed which means manual adjustment which is ok.
I have the self adjusting components along with the general rebuild kit, both from Ames. I note that Ames advise the self adjusting rod in the kit is not suitable and you need to re-use the original. Given I don’t have the original, can you modify the rod in the kit to make it work if installing the kit, or is it easier to just not install the self adjusting setup? Appreciate any comments. Mark |
