I'd like to pressure test a new mechanical fuel pump as I keep reading stories about how they are often over or under the PSI specs. This is a standard Carter fuel pump for a vanilla 68 350 carbureted engine with the single input fuel line.
Any suggestions of how to test it off or on the car? I don't want to permanently change the fuel line between the pump and carb by adding a pressure gauge. I've heard of people doing a quick test by connecting the output line of the pump directly to a pressure gauge and just cranking over the engine. Does that provide enough rpm to give a good reading? Open for thoughts or other methods. Thanks OJ
