As some of you may remember I was putting a new starter in my car. Well I found that my SFI flex plate was junk so having several factory ones and not racing the car anymore I went that route. When I was under the car trying to turn the motor by hand I couldn't. in the past I used a screwdriver to turn an engine with the flywheel teeth. I could not turn it either with the screwdriver or with a wrench on the flywheel to crank bolts. I needed a prybar with about a 15-20 to 1 leverage ratio and then I could just barely move it 1 tooth at a time. I have never had an engine that was so hard to turn. The engine is a .030 over 428 with a Procharger and about 9.5 to 1 compression. It is over 20 years old (not a lot of miles), never runs hot and has 20+ psi oil pressure at idle. It runs great and makes no noises. Why could it turn over so hard?
