This spacer right here is a type of a 1 inch open spacer. And it made almost 30 ft lbs more torque than another spacer.
Myself, I took my 1" Super Sucker of my old 455 HO. It had a Warrior. I have tested a few intakes and carbs at the drag strip. When I put my old Moroso plastic 1" open spacer I lost most of a tenth in ET and it was aluminum. Did nothing for the heat transfer.
This Polymer Racing 1" spacer made the extra torque upside down in the tests.

If a part works better when installed upside down I'm thinking it's a bass ackwards design.
Spacers need to be track tested. No dyno in the world can simulate the car moving down the track.
With one of my cars when it ran right around 11.0 it worked best with a four hole tapered spacer. It slowed down with a square open spacer. Later on when the power increased and the car ran in the 10.7 range the square open spacer was faster that the tapered four hole. The gains and losses were around .05-.07. This was using a ported T2
