Default Trunk lock stuck

Hi, guys. The trunk lock on my 64 convertible started getting harder to turn and I put that on my “gonna get to that” todo list. Well now you can insert the key and turn it but the trunk lock won’t release. I’ve tried it and tried it and nothing happens. I’m guessing that the flat rod that turns the release mechanism has possibly broken. Question is, how do I get into the trunk to fix it? On the convertible the well covering snaps off but I don’t think it provides enough room for me to wiggle into the trunk from the well. I really hate the idea of drilling this lock out, but I don’t know what else to try. Any suggestions?
