Spray with normal WD-40 after you rinse off the excess finish and that will take care of the water, then coat with a light oil - the finish is meant to hold and absorb oil.
I did this only one time and had results I could live with - 2008 seems like an eternity ago. I was actually young then and full of ambition, for one!
