77/78 is my fave nose. Was never a fan of the 79-81 nose or tail light config.
I like the earlier tailights, like the 76. But T-tops are the bomb. 76 interior is much more classic to me. I like the earlier "bird" decals too. But the 81 with t-tops, already running with SBC, seems to be a winner for me as a frequent driver. FB and CL are chock full of cheap SBC's if you ever trash that motor. I vote 81 as a best fit for what you described. Soft floors... How are you with a mig?
