I recently received a 1968 intake and carburetor from the family of a friend who passed a few years ago.

They were removed from a restored 68 GTO when he added EFI. The car was sold and these were found in his shop.

The carb was restored and the # is 7028267 WE . The Intake # is 9794234 with date code F148.

I have limited experience with the 68 and newer GTOs so had a few questions.

FIrst, does the Carb # and WE plant code correspond with these being from a 400 HO standard (4 speed) GTO?

Are there any other numbers or codes I should look for on the carb to verify it's original application?

On the intake is there anything unique with it being from a GTO or are all the 4 barrel intakes in 68 the same?

I am trying to decide whether to use it on a 455 6X motor that I may swap into my 68 Firebird, or sell it and keep the Performer and generic Qjet that is on the 455 now.

Being a standard transmission carb is there something that would make it unsuitable for use with an auto transmission?
