Default QJet Question for the x-perts

Can anyone explain WHY there would be a plant code (or pick code) on a SR Quadrajet?

It’s my understanding that the plant code is there to assist the assembly line workers in choosing the correct carb for an engine, so as to minimize mistakes.

I’ve not seen this before on anything but Chevrolet Qjets. Both times were on ‘69 Chevy carbs (70292XX) and one had a 2110 date code with an ED plant code and the other a 0611 date code and a DH.
