When we were killing bearings in the Pontiac nitro engine every weekend, I had a couple long conversations with Bill Miller. (BME) By this point we couldn't get any "race bearings" for our billet crankshafts because they were -.030 from all the damage and the learning curve. He told us "it doesn't matter what bearings you use. There were no race bearings when I began running the Fontana engine in my dragster". What matters is the oil clearance and the roundness and straightness of the parts" Turns out, as usual, he was right. Once we solved these issues, the bearings lived a long happy life. We ran our fastest times on -.030 passenger car bearings. Not by choice, it was all we could get.

IMO, the answer to the OP question, is personal preference. King bearings are pretty, no doubt about it. They are round too. I like the 3/4 groove mains in the ugly FM race bearings though. I have successfully used King, Clevite, ACL, Vandervell, FM/Speed Pro, even a few sets of Moraine 400-600. I believe Mr. Miller.
