does anyone run this cam, i'm am thinking of runinng this cam in a 461 with 6x-4 port to flow 250cfm. this will go in a 2nd. gen t.a. thanks

That Lunati cam screams!!! I replaced the Comp 290 with that Lunati, and even though I have not gotten it to the track, it feels like it has more torque. More responsive anyway.

Greg Miller's 461/'66 Catalina went 8.0s in the 1/8th (4,250 lbs. without driver) with 3.55 gears and TH200-4R with this cam and 6X heads. It made 439 RWHP. Changing to E-heads (mildly ported), it made 479 RWHP (all on 93 octane).

Isn't the 290B a solid cam?

I think your compression will not be adequate enough to run this cam effectively.

Why not consider a Lunati ground by Harold at Lunati - the 255/263 ground on a 110 LSA would be a better fit. According to Harold if you are close to 10:1 the cam will respond well to a loose converter or 4 speed, headers and a large enough carb.

There are alot of PY board members who have experience with this cam (255/263) and maybe they can give you some feedback also?

Not to create a pi$$in contest but.......To big a cam for the street or compression is an overworked theory.
I call it a........<span class="ev_code_RED">Urban Legend</span>
I have been running & building lower compression engines with massive hyd, solids and rollers for years. It's all in the package.

Smaller cubic inch engine packages are more difficult to do though.

I spoke with Steve at Lunati and he said I could get away with the 255/263 at 110 LSA as well. I might go with that one. Should sound mean!
