I haven't been around for a while and unfortunately it seems that nothing has changed.
The reason I stopped looking in on the forum was because of the rabid negativity from certain quarters towards this great car.
A few days ago I decided to catch up on some of the posts.
Man! I can't believe that you people that still haven't taken the trouble to test drive this brilliant car are still bad mouthing it.
Get out there and try one out and then come back and tell us how it is not the most powerful GTO you have driven.
I have had my GTO for over 8 months now and have yet to have a negative comment from anyone except for people on this forum.
I have lost count of the number of total strangers that have complimented me on the car.
Even my wife would not believe the amount of attention this car gets until I(reluctantly) loaned it to her while her POS Mustang GT convertible was in the shop for more of those Ford 'teething problems".
She had the GTO for two days and she was amazed with the attention that it brings.
From old and young alike the admiration of the car was like nothing she has ever experienced with her Stang.
For all you doubters: Go ahead, try one, make your day!

Answer: No.
Reason: Because automobiles are constantly evolving and using technology as it becomes available.
QUOTE]
You need to stick to the original question: 30 yr. gap between the 64 and 70, not as you have revamped the question of 64 and next production model. The 70 would have definately been recognizable as a GTO due to it's unique grill and stance, setting it apart from the rest of the Pontiac fleet. Had Rab. mentioned '74 I would have agreed with him because it was not unique in any way and was basically a rebadged model of something else already in mass production. While the 2004 certainly evolved technologically, aestically it had not evolved into anything recognizable other than what Pontiac was already producing in a fleet line.

Gee, for an Attorney you sure are having a difficult tme with this.
OK ....one more time. If there HAD been a 30 year gap between the 64 and the 70 would it have been instantly recognizable?
Answer: No, for the reasons previously stated.

Your recent posts were a somewhat refreshing experience, but that does not mean that they were entirely accurate....
(QUOTE]
My recent posts as to if GM continues with their current format of having Holdens' fingers in the GTO pie will only continue to harm more than help Pontiac sell these cars was a matter of opinion and not an attempt to be accurate. I could very well be wrong, but I don't beleive the 05 is going to do that well given the current styling and lack of media attention. As a result I don't think we'll see an 07 GTO unless Pontiac starts with a clean slate....On their own turf.....With their own engineers. The 04 I saw at Jerry Seiner GMC / Pontiac in SLC was of very poor quality in finish. (orange peel / "sheep" hair )

Lots of comparisons there. It is lost on you, then again, everything is lost on you.

Yeah, having a GTO compared to a Monaro is doing wonders for Pontiacs' bottom line.

Fine, go buy and drive what you like. If that is a 71 GTO that gets 13mpg and tach's at 3300rpm at 60mph and runs in the mid 13's that is fine with me. I'll get a car that does all that, I can drive across country without worry, gets more than double the gas mileage and has all modern conviences.

I'm no racer but those look like fine times for a stock GTO. What do you think a simple plug-n-tune, 90mm throttle body and some better rubber would do for it?

Better yet...copy Ford's idea...make the new GTO look like a '64 GTO and offer it with 4, 6, 8 cylinder, or maybe even electric motor options...yeah...now THAT's a GTO....
What are you guys talking about????

Always going back to the same old argument...mustang styling cues mean they know what they are doing and it makes them sell well.
Once again...someone give me the numbers on how well the Cobra model sells compared to the new GTO. And the Cobra model is only JUST in the class of the new GTO, doesn't beat it, performance wise.
Give me those numbers...don't talk to me about what some puny six or some weak a$$ V8 is doing...give me the numbers on the 390 HP model...How many of those is ford selling?
I really want to know.

Besides the fact that the price of gas has dropped by $.25 per gallon recently,(QUOTE]
How much is this war costing us again? And has the final bill been tallied ? And who is going foot the bill? But it doesn't really matter, given the direction Beavis and LutzHead are taking the GTO and the immense popularity of the 04/05 GM Monaro there will be no GTO in 2007.

First off, which Pontiac produced car, or for that matter GM car, is better than the Monaro right now? Please tell me. The ONLY car in that same class is the CTS/STS.
JJE, you think that the naming the car Monaro or LeMans would make it sell better? Please explain how it would do that since you have a masters in marketing. Please, I am sure we would all love to hear this.

any gm car that is better then the monaro ? hell take your pick. why name it anything besides the GTO ? im glad you asked ( just like the LS1/LT1 being chevy engine that i replied to and you didnt have any other comments) think back to the first GTO's made. they WERE the first muscle car. they had a real pontiac engine. they looked fast standing still. they were made in america. now look at todays GTO. australlian car, chevy motor, pontiac badge, made in australlia. i could take a sh** and it would look better then this car. its slower then imports. and youre gonna give it a GTO badge? based on what? if you say technology of 40+ years to make it handle better and be more fuel economic or whatever. i hope with 40+ years of technology you can do that. it might be the fastest GTO made but it has a chevy engine in it and the 04 is slower then imports. so how does that make you feel about the fastest production GTO made? if you put a diffrent badge on it then you dont piss off the pontiac guys that think this car is a discrace to the origional. if it was called the pontiac "X" then i would have considered buying one. but not a GTO. and im sure many others would say the same thing. you give it a diffrent badge and it dont have to live up to expectations of what it used to be. that a good enough explination ? youre damn right im good at marketing/sales.

Are those's Pontiac's in the foreground with those rally II's and Snowflake wheels? No they are classic Monaro's.
Pontiac and Holden have alot in common it seems.
I wonder if Aussie's bitched when the new Monaro did not look like the old Monaro? I doubt it.
Those are pretty cools cars.

If you can't tell the difference between a Caddy and a Lincoln, how can you complain about the 2004 GTO?

Had I looked at your web page listings again before that post I would have specified Caddy Limo. I knew it was something with an "L".Sorry. Given that as a kid I worked for a guy that owned both a mortuary and a furniture store, we often used his Caddy to deliver both corpses and furniture, I can tell the difference.Anyways, I remeber those awesome "bullets" that were on those gargantuan front bumpers! As far as the 04 GTO: That's the problem: it looks like every other car out there, not a GTO...just can't get excited about that.

You know, that might be plausible, except for the fact when you made that post you were quoting one of mine. My signature on every post lists the three cars.
And Cadillac also has a "C" in it, so why didn't you say Chevy or Chrysler. It also has an "A" in it, maybe you should have said Audi. I just noticed that it also has a "D" in it - why didn't you say Duesenberg...

As already posted, the awards are not important. Driving the car is. My car is nothing more than a very nice driver.

You were wrong then, and despite bringing up a 350 ci 2bbl powered LeMans into the picture, you are still wrong.

I agree they aren't in the same class, because the Mustang has never compared to the GTO, old or new.

Who asked you to drive your car in winter in road salt. Summertime cruising isn't going to add any significant wear and tear to the body of your 278,000 mile GTO (you have already told us that it runs well - although I don't understand how you know this because you don't drive it...).
