The best way would be to take it apart and blast it with glass beads.

I used a wire wheel on my bench grinder. Looked lots better.

 frittering and wasting the hours in an off hand way.... 1969 GTO, 455ci, 230/236 Pontiac Dude's "Butcher Special" Comp hyd roller cam with Crower HIPPO solid roller lifters, Q-jet, Edelbrock P4B-QJ, Doug's headers, ported 6X-8 (97cc) heads, TKO600, 3.73 geared Eaton Tru-Trac 8.5", hydroboost, rear disc brakes......and my greatest mechanical feat....a new heater core.

 or buy some rustoleum aluminum color paint.

I used a wire wheel and bruch and painted it with Eastwood Alumablast and Mar-Hyde semi gloss black.

If you can find a good rebuilder locally, they will glass bead it and rebuild it for around 45-50 bucks. It will look (and work) like new.

I took mine off three years ago. Bead blasted the outer case and rebuilt it all at the same time. When I was done I clear coated the outside and reinstalled on the motor. Looks great still....
