Ccass-Is there any HP gain from switching to tripower on a 400 engine with stock internals and a mild cam?

There was an article in HPP done about 5 years ago where they tested a 68 GTO with a 4bbl qjet then a TorkerII then a tripower and the Tripower ran the best times. The new intake will save an additiona 35lbs which may or may not translate into a little more hp at the tires.

Thanks, thats what I wanted to hear. Does PY carry the all the linkage needed to set up the tri-power? I'm probably going to go with the Holley carbs as the cars not going to be original obviously. Does anyone have the part number for those so I get the right carbs?

will Holleys even fit as produced?

Bill Klausing and I ran three Holley 2 bbl carbs
with metering blocks and mechanical linkage on a stock 66 tri-power intake several years ago. The carbs will fit the manifold with basic adaptors as the throttle hole dimensions are the same between the Holley 2 bbl and the large Rochester 2 bbl carbs. How long before I see the intake, Chris? 72 LeMans, I can set you up with the carbs when you are ready. Tom V.

Tri-Power guy is selling intakes on Classical GTO board, Ames site. Will be for next month without any flow data to back it up. I may see an
intake in a few weeks. Tom V.

I saw/felt/held/caressed one of these intakes here at POCI at PY's stand. It is the real deal! Shweet! I give it my personal seal of approval and suggest that if you want one you should order it up asap.
Even my wife (who knows little about Pontiac parts) claimed- "It's so light and easy to move around.. not like the ones you have sitting in the garage". That says it all! |

Andre, did it feel like 13 lbs? I have one on order from PY but i don't want it until it is tested by Tom V. It has to be tested for fit and airflow. It should also be run on a street engine to see how it reacts to the heating and cooling cycles, will it crack? For $450.00 i want to know what i am getting, my Victor only cost $290.00.

It didn't even feel that heavy. I don't know too much about it's cooling/heating properties, or it's flow properties. I will tell you this. If you paint it, you would not know it is aluminum.

Robert, wonder what the issue is with sending it out to me for flowing? That was the original deal! Tom V.

Tom, i wonder myself, my guess is he only has the one intake so far and is showing it off to rack up some orders. I won't accept one until you have tested it.

I cnn't speak for Chris, but I am sure that after the GTOAA nats, it will probably be on its way for testing. At this point I don't know how many are even in existence, but I will contact Steve to see if he can tell me.

I received a sample intake at the POCI show. I also displayed it at the GTOAA. This first manifold did NOT fit. The machining was off. I am hoping to have a good intake in the next 2 weeks.

CCASS,
I will be bringing your exhaust manifolds to Norwalk to save you shipping. Will trade you 4 Ram Air exhaust manifolds (that have been flow tested) for one Aluminum tri-power intake that needs to be flow tested. LOL! How is MG? Tom V.

Heard today through a private source that the
Aluminum Tri-Power intakes need to fix some basic fit and function issues. Matches up with what CCASS said about the display intake he had. Maybe some day we will have one that will bolt on and we can do some testing. Tom V.

Tom, thank's for the info, i'll wait it out until it is right. Like i said the intake Chris has at the Pontiac events is just to find out how much interest people have in it. Chris let us know, thank's.

Saw the intake on Chris PY bench today.
Finish is nice, runners had a good internal radius, etc. Chris says intake for flowing is just down the road. We will see. Tom V.
