Personally, I'd buy American rods, Crower in particular. What you bought will hopefully be better than the castings but, the Crowers will last and last. I've seen those come apart but not the Crowers. I just bought a set from Paul Spotts for $595 on sale. That is a deal! Good luck anyway with your motor. Steve www.pontiacheaven.org

I have a set in my motor just like those. Are they floaters or press? If they are press, check the small end very close. My first set was out of spec.

I use the same rods in my engine.
A wrist pin broke on one of my engines.  I was using these rods. Despite the massive destruction of the block, pistons and other things, only one rod bent.  Those are tough rods.I had no hesitation in using them again in the next engine! Big block? Small Block? Nope, It's a Pontiac Engine!

Most use a BB Chevy 6.8" rod with an offset ground crank. The BB Chevy rod is much cheaper. It also has some mechanical advantages over a short rod. In short, they're just giving you a hard time.
Back to my question. Why post pics of a $500 H-beam rod? I'm not posting my $2100 set of Carrillo's......... I'm like heaven, everybody wanna get to me......... |
